Appellate Litigation
Criminal and civil appeals: An appeal is a delicate and difficult process. You need to craft bullet-proof arguments carefully and diligently, since you often only get one try. I have a proven track record of success on appeals.
Interest group advocacy: If your organization wants to intervene in the Supreme Court of Canada or in a Court of Appeal, I can make that happen.
Criminal Litigation
I have extensive experience in trial and appellate representation of individuals facing anything from murder charges to drug charges. I have cross-examined numerous experts, including in the areas of psychiatry, pathology, blood spatter analysis, ballistics, toxicology and drug analysis. I bring my background in mathematics and science to bear when I cross-examine expert witnesses, challenging them on assumptions and concepts they are sometimes unaware of. Throughout the years, I have also developed a specialty in dangerous offender and long-term offender applications.
